Date of First Delinquency (DOFD)

The DOFD is the anchor date that starts the clock on how long negative information can generally be reported.

What is this?

The Date of First Delinquency is the first missed payment in a continuous period of delinquency that ultimately led to the account's negative status.

Why is it important?

The DOFD anchors the reporting window. An incorrect DOFD can effectively extend or shorten how long an item appears on a report.

Where might it appear?

The DOFD is typically found on delinquent tradelines and collection accounts.

How does VoidMyReport review this type of reporting information?

VoidMyReport checks whether the DOFD appears to be present, consistent across bureaus, and internally consistent with the rest of the tradeline's dates.
